Fall Fabrics

Be a trend setter wearing Fall’s most fashionable styles! While trying out new colors, don’t be afraid to pull out those old favorites in the back of your closet. We’ve compiled a number of ways on how it can be done.

Starting with fall fabrics, runways flourished with a wide range of patterns and textures this season including our favorites: Polka Dots, Plaid, Camo-Inspired, and A Touch of Lace.

  • Polka Dot: Adding a cute and girly vibe to any outfit, this dotty trend is sure to make you stand out. You can rock this pattern from head to toe while having the freedom to mix various polka dot pieces. If this is too bold for you then pair solid pieces with your polka dot ones to make it pop.

  • Plaid: New York fashion week fall 2011 reported granny plaids are in this season! We’ve all incorporated plaid into our wardrobe at one point or another, so rock it if you still have it. Find this style anywhere from local vintage stores to mainstream stores like H&M.

  • Camo-Inspired: Glamour reports camo print is another style to add to your wardrobe especially for those who like to sport an urban style. Camo-inspired clothing is best paired with boots or pumps.

  • A Touch Of Lace: Lace has been reintroduced rendering more of an eloquent and polished look. A touch of lace can make any girl feel confident, so use anything you have embellished in lace!

            The Cover Up

Got your sunblock? Check. Your bathing suit? Check. Beach towels? Check. The only thing missing is your cover-up. Don’t know how to wear them? We’ll show you!

            • Light and comfortable. It’s hot outside so be sure to pick a cover-up that is loose and airy to keep cool under the sun.
            •  Tribal prints. The tribal craze is back this summer and looks marvelous over your beachwear.

            • Sheer or crochet. Be confident and show off that figure! Sheer and crocheted cover-ups are beautiful and easy to slip on by the water.
            • Dresses and tunics. Not comfortable in a sheer cover-up? No worries because you can always wear a loose-fitting dress or tunic over your swimsuit.
            • A little extra. Pair some long jeweled earrings and big bold necklaces to embellish your cover-up!
            • Final touch. Add a cute sun hat and some sweet shades not only to protect your face from harmful rays, but to give you a chic look! See our Fun in the Sun blog for sunglasses trends.
            • Tip. Although Mara Hoffman’s or Diane von Fürstenberg’s cover-ups look amazing, know that you can find some at lower prices. Forever 21 and H&M offer a selection of cover-ups and are much more affordable. Online stores such as Venus and Victoria’s Secret have great prices as well. Check them out!

            Fun In the Sun!

            Summer 2011 sunglasses trends include:

            • Cat Eye Sunglasses: We travel back to the 50s and 60s when cat eye sunglasses first hit the runway. These chic frames made a comeback this summer with the assortment ranging from monochrome shades to numerous prints.  We spotted these on Kourtney Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Nicole Richie, and Scarlett Johansson.

            • John Lennon Sunglasses:  Make a statement with these stylish frames. They are great with balancing those faces with oval, diamond, or square shape by adding curves to their angles and can be paired with just about anything.  We spotted these on celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Momsen, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

            • Retro Sunglasses: These hip shades compliment all face shapes. Designs range from oversized frames in ombre and mono-colored hues to colorful punk versions. The 60s and 70s are back! We spotted these on Eva Mendes, Fergie, and Kate Hudson.

            • Edgy Sunglasses: These unique sunglasses are inspired by a futuristic design, morphing classic shades with distinctive, futuristic details.  The edgy style doesn't constrict to one look, so you'll find these sunglasses come in a variety of shapes and designs.  Be daring and grab a pair of studded frames to play up your wardrobe.  We spotted these on Gwen Stefani, Paris Hilton, and Beyonce.

              Hippie Chic

Let’s face it, hippies have this unconventional appearance, but the amazing thing about them is that they’re naturally beautiful!! This look is easy whether you want to change up your style or attend an event. You can achieve this look with:

              • Free fitting blouses or t-shirts. Cropped tops and tunics varying from any print to neutrals, all the way to bright colors. Fringed tops are also hot right now.
              • Denim shorts. Distressed and cuffed shorts or even leggings can play up your look for a hippie style.  If you’re daring bell bottom jeans will satisfy the look perfectly.
              • Tousled hair and hippie headbands. This headband is essential and distinguishes your style from others. For the complete look, wrap it around your forehead over tousled hair. Use a scarf instead if you don’t have a headband.
              • Feathers are in this 2011 season! Feather extensions are another essential accessory this summer creating a unique and fun look. They range from semi-permanent feathers to others you can remove any time. If you have any of these, put it in your hair! It creates a unique and fun look.

              • Comfy Shoes. Sandals or wedges will go perfectly with this look.

              • You can DRESS it up. And when I say dress it up, I mean casually! If you don’t have any shorts or tshirts, wear a flowy or ethnic type dress. Floral dresses are chic too, so don’t be afraid to wear them!
              • Makeup. Use earth tones for your eyes and while giving your blush a break, you can replace it with a bronzer to create a more natural, soft look To make your lips pop, I recommend an orangey red lipstick for this summer! In our examples below, we are wearing Lady Danger from MAC but if you want a more subtle, natural look you can use Glamour Gloss Peek-a-boo by Too Faced.
